Learning Designer and Coach

Updated 30.11.2025

Learning Design

I have been involved in many ways in the development of learning environments at Turku University of Applied Sciences between 1990 and 2025. The following are the names of the learning environments and projects:

  • Development of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSc) degree in Southwest Finland 1997-2003
  • Yrittäjyyden Talo - House of Entrepreneurship
  • Tukialus (Motheship) / RDI-Proha
  • Monkey
  • Flowerhat
  • Os. Multipotentia (Cooperation Multipotentia)
  • Viivi-Akatemia - Vivian's Academy
  • Sosionomi (AMK) verkkotutkinto - Online studies in Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSc) degree
  • Luokka 2026 - Class of 2026
  • Luokkalaiset - Classmates
  • EduSKY
  • SVR Campus
  • IkaPalmu
  • UraKoutsi
  • Sosiaalikoulu

There is room for big stories and small successes. Not everything has always gone smoothly either. You can read more about the above-mentioned learning environments on my FB TMI page. I am also happy to tell you more about my experiences in developing learning environments.

Coaching for Entrepreneurship

Teaching in the 2020s is about coaching, guiding and tutoring. It is no longer about shining as an expert in front of a class and an audience. The development of competence, its support and assurance is the most important thing, not me as a teacher, researcher or expert.

Coaching for entrepreneurship has meant three things over the last 20 years of my career.

First, alongside the substance, I have taught students responsibility, self-direction, self-leadership, team leadership, peer leadership, project skills, marketing and communication skills and digital encounter skills.

Second, I have done working life-oriented projects with students, selling their competence to companies, organisations and municipalities as the responsible teacher for the Tukialus development activity in 2006-2017. In recent years, I have implemented the Tukialus concept under the name of RDI project training. Over the past ten years, student projects have had to serve the RDI activities of the university of applied sciences, and therefore projects have been carried out in RDI projects managed by the university of applied sciences teachers.

Thirdly, entrepreneurship training has meant entrepreneurship training in the social and educational sectors. First, this was implemented as a 5-credit course for all Bachelor of Social Sciences (BA) students in 2017-2021. Starting from the 2022 curriculum, students have been able to complete the course entrepreneurship training in the social and educational sectors in alternative method studies. The teaching consists of three microcourses, a personal entrepreneurship development plan, and a business idea development assignment.

1.9.2026-

I will continue working on these two themes after my working career, with the aim of being involved in the 2026-2050 project: Learning design and entrepreneurship training. On the way towards higher quality social work education and social service work by 2050. Let's see how far I can go.
